Our Story
BEGINNINGS
Ty graduated from the University of Iowa in 1980 with a double major in athletic training and physical therapy. A group of athletic trainers in Las Vegas reached out to him and he became a senior partner with their company. This group evolved and become the largest physical therapy practice in the southwest at the time.
Julie graduated from Loma Linda University in 1987 and met Ty on one of her internships. She moved to Las Vegas in 1988 to work at another clinic while they were dating until Ty and Julie got married in 1990. In 1997, they moved to San Luis Obispo, where Julie was raised.
Ty and Julie filled in at other local clinics before starting ASPIRE Physical Therapy in 2000, initially renting space in the Family Medical Center. A few years later, ASPIRE expanded into their current location, where they have continued to serve the SLO County residents.
Our Approach
PHYSICAL THERAPY
Ty's signature approach developed secondary to his investigating alternative methods to physical therapy without significantly aggravating patient's pain. He acknowledged that a lot of the testing and treatment processes could be aggravating to a patient already in pain, so he implemented a philosophy of "keeping things smooth and comfortable". He requested that patients agree to keep things "all comfortable, all the time" as they progressed patient's range of motion, strength, and function virtually pain-less. His approach has yielded success and gratitude amongst numerous clients that have come through ASPIRE's doors.
